Memorial Ceremony: Aug. 11 at 8 a.m.
Held at the beautiful Colorado Veterans Monument across Lincoln Street from the State Capitol. The Monument, dedicated in 1990 to all who have served in the armed forces, has become a "gathering place to remember."
The ceremony, beginning at 8 a.m., will include Posting of the Colors, a wreath-laying ceremony celebrating each military branch, and inspirational words of gratitude.
While the Parade following the ceremony will be a welcome home to those still serving, the Memorial Ceremony will be a time to pause and remember with appreciation for those who gave their lives in the War on Terror. The sacrifice of these Fallen Heroes will never be forgotten.
The ceremony will include military honors such as Posting the Colors, the laying of Wreaths for each military branch and inspirational words of gratitude. The Memorial Ceremony is free and open to the public of all ages.
[Two annual ceremonies honoring Colorado Fallen Heroes are held at the Monument - the Colorado Veterans Memorial Day Tribute and the Veterans Day Honor Roll Reading. The organizers of these ceremonies are pleased to be a part of the Yellow Ribbon Event by also planning the August 11th Memorial Ceremony.]
